JANUARY, 2016
issue #18, 19
This month we ran workshops with design students to collect different viewpoints and develop them into ideas. It started with a short introduction of our intention and some methodologies followed by the subject 'Visualising Invisible', which we already explored before. The results were fascinating in terms of different way of thinking and various approaches of final results. We would like to share some of them.
Visualising {Traces}
Day 1, initial ideation.
Visualising traces of breath or verbal language. The opacity reduces while carbon dioxide accumulates whether or not the exhaling activity is intended. Air and words from our mouth evaporates, but this doesn't mean that it doesn't exist afterwards.
Visualising trace of voices. Simply by lighting up the moment of speaking with a vibration sensor, it can help the deaf to involve more in the conversation.
Visualising trace of time in a photo. These photos of Han River creates surreal emotion by collecting time of a landscape into gradation of one photo. By doing this, the format of imagery became a dynamic still video.
Visualising trace of life by adding life-time milestone events.
Visualising trace of life by measuring weight of lives.
Visualising trace of time by disappearance of a tangible object.
Visualising the weight of woes. The cracks filled with cigarettes represent time spent with agony.
Visualising {7 Sins}
Visualising 7 sins with boxes. Pendants of boxes with different form, gesture and relation shows pride/envy/wrath/sloth/greed/gluttony/lust in a way.
Visualising {Pain}
Visualising pain of a love game. The heart-shaped balloon swaying in the air meets a keen needle moving toward the balloon. The tension of this movement in a way lets you feel the unbearable pain of love.

Visualising {Paradox}
Visualising paradox by creating a light shade that is pulled down gradually by gravity. As the sun sets, the light also falls down. Nevertheless ironically, it shines more bright with more focus on you.
